Prof. Manuel Roveri - Bio
MANUEL ROVERI received the Dr. Eng. degree in Computer Science Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano (Milano, Italy) in June 2003, the MS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago (Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.) in December 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano (Milano, Italy) in May 2007. He has been Visiting Researcher at Imperial College London (UK) in 2011. Currently, he is a Full Professor at the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria of the Politecnico di Milano (Milano, Italy). Since 2018 Manuel Roveri is a Senior Member of the IEEE. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence, of the IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence, of the IEEE Computation Intelligence Magazine and of the Elsevier Neural Network Journal. Manuel Roveri was Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems from 2013 to 2020 and Guest Editor of several special issues
Manuel Roveri served Chair of the IEEE CIS Neural Networks Technical Committee, of the IEEE CIS Technical Activities Strategic Planning Sub-Committee, of the IEEE CIS Senior Member Committee and of the Pre-College Activities Subcommittee of the IEEE Computational Intelligent Society. and Vice Chair of the IEEE CIS Smart World Technical Committee. In addition, he served as member in many IEEE committees and subcommittees.
Manuel Roveri served as Program Chair at the 2019 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN 2019) and served with several roles international conferences (mostly at IEEE-sponsored conferences)
Manuel Roveri received the following scientific awards:
- Outstanding Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence in 2021
- the Outstanding Computational Intelligence Magazine Paper Award from the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society in 2018.
- the Outstanding Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems Paper Award from the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society in 2016;
- the Best Regular Paper Award at the International Neural Network Society Conference on Big Data in 2016;
- “Outstanding reviewer of 2008” from the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society.
Manuel Roveri has published more than 110 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. In particular, he is author of 30+ International Transactions and Journals, 70+ papers at Peer-reviewed International Conferences and Workshops, 9 Book Chapters in International Peer-reviewed Edited Books and 4 Patents.
His research interests include embedded and edge AI, intelligent embedded and cyber-physical systems, learning in nonstationary-evolving environments and privacy-preserving machine and deep learning.
Manuel Roveri has been coordinator or co-coordinator of 25+ competitive/industrial research projects (total funding 850+K euro) and three industrial PhD scholarships (total funding 237K euro).
